KLNB Brings City Winery to D.C.’s Ivy City
Working Winery Complements Up-and-Coming Maker Neighborhood in Former Love Nightclub Space
Baltimore, Md. – KLNB, the full-service commercial real estate brokerage, announced today that City Winery is opening a location in Washington, D.C. The fully functioning winery and entertainment venue will take over the 41,081-square-foot building at 1350 Okie Street that was formerly Love nightclub. The lease was signed mid-April, and the winery is set to open in late 2017. KLNB principals, Ben Becker and Dimitri Georgelakos, partnered with New York City’s EVO Real Estate to represent City Winery in the deal with Douglas Development.
“Ivy City has quickly made a name for itself as a “maker” district in Washington,” said Becker. “There are breweries and distilleries; a coffee roastery is under construction. A winery is a perfect fit, and the high-end multi-functioning wine and culinary experience that City Winery brings will take the neighborhood to the next level.”
City Winery delivers a mix of wine, music and culinary arts through intimate concerts, food and wine classes, private events and fine dining. The first City Winery opened in Manhattan in 2008 — the first of its kind in the area. From there, the business has opened four additional venues in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta and Boston. The opening of City Winery in D.C. is part of founder and CEO, Michael Dorf’s, expansion plan to open at least one new location annually.
